numbers on band invisible

A lady just phoned me about an injured bird with a TauRIS 2000 band and a yellow band on the other leg. There are apparently no markings on that yellow band. Any ideas about how they could have disappeared?

Hi Karl; In 2011 we had yellow bands and the writing was very small, maybe it is a bit dirty and she can't see it properly. Makes no sense to have a Tauris and not a ID band.

Perhaps, Tom. We decided for her to nurse it back to health and then let it go. There is some damage to where the body meets the wing which points more to a wire injury than injury from a hawk attack. Either way the bird may now be better off with her than the owner.
