Disperal Auction

Postby George Bosma » Sun Jan 23, 2011 11:40 pm

I attended an auction yesterday and decided that two hens, sisters would be worth trying as breeders. CBS Keiser and Arden blood lines 8th and 39th in club, with one scoring in top 10% in 5 of 7 old bird races entered in. $45 each and they are "09" birds. Good birds don't have to be expensive. I also purchased a 4 young bird kit off the best flyer in our club for $140 bred off his breeders not race team, this was the winner of the 300 mi section of the Mid west classic in 2010, had 2 birds that won national awards in "09". He dominates most of the races, club and combine. I hope to see how his birds do in my loft, and this should tell me if it is me,"most likely" or the quality of my birds that needs improvement.

It may also be worth your while to find out exactly how that guy manages his birds, George. We often blame the bird when we should blame the guy that looks at us from the mirror.

The grizzle factor would certainly add lots of color to any loft and all birds have a different color. This will probably increase their final price.

I attended a club auction over the weekend. Twenty six auction birds and three young bird kits. Five of the birds were bred in the States the rest were imports Nl and Belg that were all donated by the son of a deceaced flyer. I heard the son had a 30 mile one way trip to care for the birds. The imports sold for as little as $30, "03" cock from C. Leijtens to $200, "08" cock from Herbots.
I had to try a couple at these prices, A "09" cock from Marco & Claudia Van Den Heuvel. It is a granddaughter and great granddaughter of "Silvana"
26e Npo Ruffec' 04
Nat Ruffec' 05
260e Npo Ruffec' 05
The other was a Half brother to Sprinter< Lorenzo van Russel "06" this looks to be Klak, "019 Janssen". I see the sire to be "Sprinter's" Father and the dam is a daughter of "Sprinter's" mother and De 864 who won 41 prizes in 3 years.
Duffel 2/1606
Strombeek 2/1435
Peronne 2/941
Morlincou 2/ 757
Pont St. 5/ 1230
Ect.
At the prices I paid, I had to try these, They handle great, The Eye ???? I dont' pay much attention.
We also got good news for our Club we have been invited to fly the Minn. Inv. Series, it will depend on coordinating the shipping but will get us some longer races. WE have not flown over a 300 mi since I started in "05", so I am looking forward to the posiblity of more competion and some distance, hopefully I have some birds that will do it.
